Hello,
I was wondering what people are using as a 4x12 cab cover or case?
(Obviously, the classic wood flight case is one option, but adding that much weight and cost to a 4x12 cab probably isn't the best option unless you are actively touring. So let's take that option out of the equation for the purpose of this discussion)

Come to think of it, SKB used to make a nice 4x12 plastic shell that was light weight and reasonably priced. But I guess they've stopped.
Are those Tuki covers the kind Splawn carries?

haha, you guys will probably laugh but for my 412's, i re-used the boxes they came in to make an outer shell. i cut out holes where the handles are. the boxes fit perfectly over the cab and have done a great job at protecting them during transport.

Now that is funny Windsen............Whatever works though. If you have some skills you can make the wood touring type pretty cheap. They sell everything you need as far as aluminum, rivots, and wood at Home Depot or Lowes.

I just bought 2 new 4x12 ATA cases for my cabs. I have a used 4x12 Showcase Custom Case that a Splawn Cab fit in beautifully. I'm selling it for $200 plus shipping. It's scratched up and all, but the foam is still great and the casters and hardware still work great. It's less than half of what you would pay for a new one. The other option is the cardboard box. I cut a box up to fit around the cabinet perfectly. Then I duct taped the crap out of it. It lasted for a couple of years but my cab that was in it got some dents and scuffs.

Thanks for the replies so far.
I'm gonna stay away from an ATA type wood case because the combined weight would make it impossible for one person to life into a vehicle.
The cardboard box approach isn't a viable option here in FL since it's common to get rained upon. LoL
The vinyl covers are good for moisture resistance, preventing tears in the grill cloth and other minor bumping around, but they don't otherwise protect much. I think a tuki cover would be a better choice in this category since it doesn't cost much more than a vinyl cover.
Any more suggestions or recommendations ?

Go with a Tuki padded cover. That's what I use and I throw the cab in the back of my pick-up with no scratches. I couldn't imagine lugging an ATA case with a 4x12! I had an ATA case for my last amp head and that things was a pain in the back. I use Tuki padded stuff for everything now. It's good as long as you aren't touring on planes.

Our roadies let the local crews throw all of our crap around too much for anything less than an ATA. I'm nervous that sometimes that's not enough! LOL! I try to tell them, but most of them get paid in peanuts.... I feel bad for them.
