I recently saw Stuck Mojo twice and they (Rich Ward/Pro Mod and Mike Martin/Q Rod) sounded great. Sure would be sweet to hear The Duke run through a Nitro at SplawnCon this year!

I think as the date gets closer the thread will liven back up! I saw Rich with Fozzy a while back and his tone slayed... Probably would be hard to get him to the Splawncon but it would be cool nonetheless.

I'm tentatively in. I didn't realize what an easy drive it will be for me from Montgomery. Just drive 2 miles to I85 and then drive straight to the exit with the hotel. hehe
google maps says 6 hours. I can probably hit it in 5.
So would you guys who were there last time talk about some of the stuff that goes on?
Is this the time when scott demos new amps or ideas or stuff like that? Is it a time when he or someone in his shop mods peoples amps?
What all sorts of non gay or sexual activities happen? Is it just a big all day long play guitar fest or is there other stuff that happens?

Everyone first got an exhaustive tour of the shop.....it was really cool. The shop is not big, but you get to see every aspect of what goes into the amps. You can ask any questions you like. We saw how "Tree" builds the head boxes and cabs. He was really informative! We watched how (sh&t, I cant remember his name!! Sorry) does the tolexing...this was amazing. That dude is awesome with tolex!! We all ended up over at a local music store/music center where Scott had reserved this big room. This is where many on the youtube clips come from. This room was filled with every Splawn amp made, including cabs. IT WAS INCREDIBLE!! You could play any amp with any cab that you wanted to. It was a rock out session!!! Scott brought in tons of BBQ for the whole bunch....SCOTT RULES!!!! That night a whole bunch of us went out to eat with Josh from the shop....we had a great time. Back at the hotel, we all drank beer and had fun fooling with guitars etc........
As for the non gay/sexual activities, I will let someone else jump in here.
It was truly a great weekend of all music, no drama, absolute FUN!!!
BTW - I hate TJ becasue he is so freaking good on the guitar!! (J/K TJ - love ya man!)

haha yeah seems like all the splawn guys have this 80's shredder vibe about em (I won't lie, I'll get down on some VH, Dokken and the guys any day) but I know my chops need tons of work to hang with a lot of the guys I've seen other youtube clips from!
Sounds like fun. I'll pencil it in on the calendar.

My theory on that is.. typically older guys can afford $2000 amps.. older guys grew up in 80's and most older guys have better chops due to just playing longer... so by default your 30-40 age group is gonna appear to be "shredder" types.. but its just the way we were raised. That is not to suck as much as the Nirvana/Green Day generation.

HAHA Well, I'm only 26 but I never latched onto the alt rock stuff...it was too boring for me. I liked the loud flashy stuff.
