I love old school stuff too, remember I'm 35 and had a 2600 when they came out.. I've also had a Colecovision, Odyssey II, Texas Intsr. TI-994A, NES, Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, PS1, PS2, Gamecube and now the Xbox360..

BUT.. I ain't paying $250.00 to play 8 bit games and building a PC to do it is a bit overkill too. My Intel iMac is enough,, but ultimately I'd rather have a console in my living room in front of my 47" HDTV playing games in 1080i, through my stereo system... i LOVe consoles.

my buddy has this system he got for $25 that plays all the old nes games...
and you don't have to go through the ritual of blowing on them and hitting reset.....

ick, Apple.....

I like the pc overkill thing because the system will not be out of date for the next 5 years or so. I can upgrade it with all the new cards and software. When it does go out of date you can pass it off to the wife. TeeHee.

I can also record live tv, burn cds/dvds, manage my music/media/pictures collection, surf the internet, send emails, jam on guitar port, watch youtube, and oh yeah...play games.

I built it for around the same price Craig paid for an XBOX 360.

Hey Craig,

I started on a Mac IIc. I am Bac. The two artists where I work have those dual-processor uber Macs (Around $3000 each.) They complain that the new Macs are as slow as the 6+ year old Macs they had. I just laugh......

I had to work on one of those uber Macs at an art agency. Man...I felt like Mike Tramp of White Lion “Wait – wait for the file to execute. (oh it failed) now I am waiting for the file to execute one more time.” Slooooooooooow.

If Macs work for you Craig, that’s great. I don’t want to pay 35% more and get ½ the Ram and 1/3 of the hard drive space just to be part of a “Club.”
