i use 10-60 on my les paul. thick strings gives me better clarity and a thicker sound.9s are to thin for me.

I think .o10's are the way to go Kurt. If you listen to Uncletom-toms vibrato you'll agree its weak with the loose .009's. wEak and girly like. I am starting to think that. I like the tighter feel to standard tuning. .009s work the best for me on standard. But when I am half step down I feel like I am flopping all over the fretboard. Granted.......that floppy sound is how EVH got part of his signature sound.......it just doesn't feel right to me!

i like the floppyness..9s tuned a half step down are perfect for me... but my set is 9-46 so they're a little bigger on the low strings You know, I might try 9-46. I have Elixir Polyweb 9-42. They don't make 9-46 in Polyweb, so I would have to go with Nanoweb. Polywebs are great cause they are more balanced. Nanowebs are a little bit brighter!

GHS makes 9-46s as well..CL's..custom lights...I don't like GHS AT ALL, but if you do, you might wanna look into them!
I know that ernie ball has hybrid slinkies...9-46s I think..at least 46..maybe a little thicker on the low end..

I play 10-52 or 10-56 on my Les Paul and Strat. I tune down half a step also. I think .009's feel to thin and flabby for me as well. I like something I can dig in to. The tone is much fatter also, as I am sure we all know. .009's are fer Girly Men!

Scott said that he uses 10s also. I just dig in to hard. Fat tone is what I am after too! Combine that with the Quick Rod and I will be doing pretty good!

Ok, I switched to 10s! New Elixir Polyweb 10-46s. Sounds awesome and feels great! I have a little trouble with the bending, but no big deal......I will get used to it!

.009's are great. I see at Guitar Center they are having a sale, buy 2 boxes of Tampax and you get a set of 009-042's for free.
BWWWAHAHAHAHAH.

Yer an easy target..
But serously.. I would use 009's, but I can't pick 'em. They slop around too much even in standard. I need more stiffness. I'd use 011's if it weren't for the viloent bending I do at shows.
