What kind of cables do you guys use and do you think the high priced ones are hype?
I was arguing with my band last night that the high end cables are better but they are both stubborn AND electricians so they know it all. I know some brands are paying for the name but I think the quality is much better than your standard $15 cord.
I bought the final good quality cable last night for the big show tomorrow. It was a 21' Monster Rock Prolink cable. I now have that and 2 Monster cables for the effects loop, Planet Waves gold plated for guitar to pedal board, and all George L's cables for my pedals. I figure if I'm going to use alot of effects i should at least make up for any loss with good cables.
Did I waste my money?

I used to think that if it wasn't monster it was crap..i'm since thinking diffferently.I still use the monster cables cause I spent a poop load on them and it's what I got...but I'd be just as happy with guitar center cables to be perfectly honest..I've used both straight into my quick rod and the difference is barely discernable..

no, you didn't waste money and there is a difference between different types of cables, not necessairly what they cost. Good cables do make a difference in tone and lack of noise.
I use George L's for instrument cable and effects. I use monster cable for speaker cable (heads to cabs)

I use George L's for instrument cable and effects. I use monster cable for speaker cable (heads to cabs) That's what I feel. I was going to use george L's for guitar to pedalboard and to amp but they seem very stiff and unflexible. I do that it made a huge difference when I went from those crap 5 for $5 patch cables to the George L's on my board. I can honestly say there isn't much of a difference going from playing dry to using the board. I use a Monster for the speaker cable as well. I have the cheaper Monsters (not gold plated) for the effects loop and might replace them sometime soon, though it seems to sound fine.
