ok, I bring this up cause I'm currently on the hunt for a bridge pup for my EBMM petrucci..I HATED the stock one..and my buddy just put an f-spaced dimarzio evolution in there..and quite frankly, I'm less than impressed..and it sounded good in a Jem I tried it out on..sigh..
anyway, no matter what my second guitar is, I always come back to my lynch with the JB trembucker..it's just got a nasty friggin' attack that keeps me comming back.,..the JB is so my style it ain't even funny..if you've listened to my QR clips, you'll see that I get along with it rather well....lol..it just works for me!!!
so, what're your favorite pickups? do you find that you keep switching them on one or more guitars only to keep comming back to one that has your apparent favorite in it?
after all this, I might as well just put a JB and a 59 in my petrucci and be done with it..hehe

My 2 favourite bridge pickups are the Anderson H2+ and the PRS HFS.

I've never been able to settle on a favorite pickup, which is weird because I definately have a favorite guitar and a favorite amp, I can tell you EXACTLY want I want in a guitar or amp. With pickups.........it depends of the guitar and amp.
It kind of bums me out now that I think about it, over the years I've had so many pickups in my main guitar (an '86 Jackson) I can't even keep track. Not because I couldn't get the guitar to sound good (it sounds unbelievable with just about anything) but because no pickups so far could do it all, depending on which band I was in, what style, what amp, etc. The stock Jackson pickup sounds great with distortion but doesn't do cleans so well, the Screamin Demon cleaned up well but had to much high end, by JB went microphonic, etc. I put some Duncan Antiquities in there too, and despite what everyone raves about I wasn't all that impressed.
I guess for neck position I do have an outright favorite, the Humbucker From Hell. Done deal there. For bridge, right now I'm digging the BBQ in the Jackson, I can see that being in there for a long while. Mostly, I prefer to get guitars that sound good with the stock pickups; my PRS has Dragon II's which I like alot, I like the stock pickups in my Axis too. Heck, I'm even into the 500T/498R combo in my LP Classic once I lowered them pretty far from the strings.
I do want to try a Duncan 59 just to compare to the BBQ, but it's not urgent. I'm really happy with the BBQ.

I do hear alotta good things about the 59...I just think it wouldn't have been quite hot enough for me...
hopefully I'll get my texas bbq set from scott soon...have my buddy slap them in my JP6 then I'll be done....I feel bad for not playing it, but I can't stand the pickups that I have in there.....we shall see! =D

I bought a 59 for my "guestbook". It's the only passive pickup I have. Haven't tried it yet as I'm still letting friends and family sign the guitar - once it's all filled up I'll finish up the wiring and see what it has to offer...
