Has anyone tried a Les Paul through their Quickrod? I used my mates Les Paul through mine and it sounded really good-really thick and chunky....here we go again!!!

Hey guys!! I'm new around here and am very curious about the Quick Rod and Marshall Mods. I'm a 30+ year LP player and usually plug into old Marshalls. My latest amp is a homebrew 50 watt clone, but even after many tweaks, it just doesn't have enough gain(distortion). I plan to visit Splawn next week. From what I've read so far, this may be what I'm looking for!! Thanks Rick

Hey rickfox,i have been playing for many years as well and i have used loads of amps,pre-amps,pedals,racks you name it! and i can tell you i am very happy with my Quickrod,it seems to be the best bits of what ive used before in one package. All 3 channels sound great and that has not been the case with most of the amps ive used in the past..

Boz , I've played a Les Paul for years. I have one of the new QR's(see my pic in the pics section), and the sound is thicker than my ex-wives legs!!(That's saying alot]. A very Percussive sound. As far as gain , I got rid of a Soldano 100+, and haven't missed a beat.

I often use a Warmoth Les Paul project guitar - sounds fantastic through the QR - it's a metal machine w/ the EMG Zakk set.

I'm pretty much a strat guy but I really enjoy the chunkiness of a good Les Paul.
In a great stroke of luck,a buddy of mine has loaned me (again!) his '78 Les Paul Custom.100% mahogany, heavy as hell, beat to sh!te but sounds great.Especially with Invaders in the neck and bridge! I know,I know,......but it sounds great!!!Awesome for heavy as hell riffage!!!!And solo's so thick you can slice them......................
That said........................
This guitar + the Quick Rod is unbelievable!!!!!!
The QR is just amazing !!!! If the best Hot Rodded Marshall tones are what you're after, then this is the best overall amp ,IMHO.
I really think any guitar will sound great just because Scott's amps and mods are that good.
That doesn't mean a $125.00 POS is gonna sound fantastic, just better because of the amp itself.Unlike the Mesa Rectifier type amps, which to me makes almost all guitars /and to some extent guitarists, all sound alike.
Peace,
Axemane

I haven't played a Les Paul since I was 18, but if I were going to get one it'd be that color. Nice guitar man!
