My band opened for Jani this past weekend...let me just say that his guitar player is a dude who could become a household name in the future. When I arrived for sound check, my first thought was "whoa, this guy looks like he's about 12 years old." Come to find out, he was actually 16...his name is Dario Lorina and this kid can RIP!!!!

I think he has a MySpace page...if you do a search under "Dario Lorina", or "Jani Lane" you should see something. The funny thing is that my wife's very first impression was that he reminded her of Randy Rhoads. I totally saw that after she mentioned it. (But this kid was waaaaaaaay faster.)

back on topic....I went to that kid's site...he's pretty good...that one live clip, 'through these eyes or whatever'....not bad...especially considering his age...based on that clip though (age aside) I wouldnt' say he's the greatest thing since sliced bread...probably better than ME, but that's not sayin' much..LOL...

Back on Topic: The guitar kids are getting better at a much younger age it seems. we will be dinosours quick! LOL They let me off my leash every once in a while so I can go in the yard and.............dig. There are a ton of young guns coming up that are just great players. I think it's awesome! bout time people actually took interest in being efficient at their instrument. Could you imagine playing with that kook Jani Lane. I'm sorry but he's about the biggest idiot there is. |

Right on about Dario...he has technique to burn, but he isn't the most tasteful player in the world (if I had to be super critical). Granted, he's only 16 and his technique is up there with anyone's.
BTW, he was the highlight of Jani's band...Mr. Lane was a MESS!!! (Don't get me started on the whole sound check fiasco...)

Actually, the bassist was the problem as he was so heavy that he squashed everyone else's stage volume. The keyboard player was being really difficult towards the soundman when all he needed to do was yell at the guy with the long necked guitar standing next to him. The keyboard player took over 2 hours on his soundcheck...  Jani was a mess...in the middle of a song, he walked up to the bar (he had a wireless mic) and ordered a shot (this was right next to me), and proceeded to spill it all over himself while the band tried to cover for him. That was one of the "better" moments. He was almost incoherent between songs, and just made no sense at all. We all thought that he was going to fall face first off the stage all night. Seriously. It was a shame...I actually feel bad for him, that kind of addiction can't be easy. So much for Celebrity Fit Club. |
