uli jon roth isn't the lead singer of the scorpions... No, Klaus Meine is their singer...he's only 'rather' irritating...Uli sang a couple of songs off of pre 80s albums...if you can find 'Hell Cat' or 'Polar Nights' from the album "Virgin Killer" give a listen and cringe...sounds like a cat getting run over by a car. huge scorps/mathias jabs fan...so a while ago i figured i'd go back and check out some of the pre-mathias albums...didn't really care for them.... |

Jabs = pot metal....Schenker = GOLD in comparison....PA-LEEEESE... i knew you were going to say that...i love lovedrive...i mean albums prior to that Try 'Taken By Force' considered by most critics as their best album...'He's a Woman She's a Man' ROCKS! I LOVE the sound that Dieter Dirks gets on the whole album especially the guitars...that is Plexi GOLD right there...I've taken that album to a few recording gigs and told the engineer 'this is what I want for guitar sound'....(I've done that with 'Ratt' too) |

Neil Young - I mean really... is there any worse guitar player or singer? Oh Craig man, you kill me. Me and you couldn't be the farther ends ofthe spectrum. I happen to love Neil Young and beleive it or not he is an influence on my guitar playing. You will probably think that means I am horrible but I think Neil had great feel despite his sloppiness and his acoustic work is tops. To each his own i guess but you keep stepping on my idols!  |

Roth is in a much more 'difficult' class of player...he plays with a lot of style and finesse, alot more musical and savy than the Schenker/Jabs blue scale guys...there are some dvds out there with Uli Jon Roth playing live gigs, pick one up and see what I mean. He is awesome (except when he tries to sing....) BTW: Jabs is a 'twerp'...most 17 yr old kids outta local lessons can smoke him |

BTW, Uli is the first guy that I EVER saw doing smooth sweep picking WAY before Malmsteen even showed up (most people recognize Yngwie as a Roth 75% and Blackmore 25% player)...Jabs? standard Marshall into Eventide 949 player of the 80s....sorry, recurring, cheesy, pentatonic/blues licks over sorry, cheesy barre chords with no 3rd...stack 5th...(that's mostly what I do too, so I should know!)... |
