Where do you have the mic placed at? thanks motrock...just wanted to show that this thing can still sound great at really low volumes... we had it cranked last week and we couldn't believe how great it sounded...no effects...nothing else plugged into it...just the amp and a guitar

What speakers do you use? I will be honest, the best speakers for that classic VH sound is G12H30s! I have a Mojave Cab loaded with them at it sounds great. The Splawn 4x12 gets the modern tone!

Motrock, which cab do you like better? I've heard the Mojave is very tight sounding, is the Splawn the same?

The Splawn is also tight, but not as tight as the Mojave cab. The Splawn is designed to be a much better version of a cab w/ V30s. Its real easy on the ears, unlike V30, which will rip your head off! The Mojave cab is like the best vintage style cab that you have ever heard! I have a Mojave Peacemaker that sounds perfect through it. That is the early Van Halen tone...............exact!!!! To me, the Splawn takes that early tone and modernizes it, while still holding on to that late 70s 2203 type of tone. I feel like I have the best of both worlds............pardon the pun! LOL ;D
I might ad though, the Splawn and Mojave cabs are 100% identical..........just different speakers. If you put G12H30s in the Splawn cab, it would be identical to the Mojave cab! I have opened both cabs up and they are the same construction.

Motrock, thanks very much for the info. My Splawn cab ships early this week. I sent Scott some older Celestion 25's and 65's to put in it. I have an old 60's basketweave (20 watters) which has this amazing warm tone but I didn't want to push my luck with Scott's new Quick Rod head. I have heard very good things about the Peacemaker, I would love to find one used to lighten the wallet hit but they don't seem to come up for sale that often.

very nice, what guitar are you using. hi cust22, welcome to the board...if i remember correctly i used an alder strat with a duncan distortion in the bridge...the amp sounds ALOT better than that..that's just to show that you can get a good marshall sound at very low volume
