I prefer #1. Black with the can grille and white piping looks killer! That picture just doesn't do the cane justice.

ask scott about the new salt/pepper (basketweave) style caine grillcloth he's got
i had him put it on my 2x12 and it looks killer, i may have to see if i can't get a pic (it's not the grill you see on the 2x12 in the pic posted on the other thread, that was the grillcloth i had him replace)

I have the same one as Cobrahead. As a matter of fact, when he posted the pic of his on the Harmony Central forums, thats when I made up my mind. The black toltex, brown sugar grill cloth, and white piping looks perfect! I like the Eminence Governor X pattern too. Very warm and tight low end.

Man wait to you hear these things. I can't believe the difference in Scott's cabs to my Marshalls. No comparison. I love mine!

I've got one of the older salt n peppa cabs with the sew in logo on the grill cloth. This baby rocks. I get compliments on this cab, and my Splawn Plexi head at every gig!

OK guys, tell me how and why the Splawn cabs sound better than a Marshall. I have an 1982 Marshall 4x12 with 65's and it sounds pretty good. As far as Celestions go, I read that the 70's really don't sound very good but the 75's do. The 65's are supposed to be some of the better ones. I couln't tell you myself without hearing all the cabs side by side. This is all info from the Marshall amp book.
Has anyone ever heard Kendrick black frame 12's? I love those speakers but you can't get them anymore.
If the red coats sound better than the celestions, couldn't I just change my 65's or do you think that cabinet itself is adding some tone?
Thanks in advance for your opinions!

I have the same Marshall cab (see below pic),, with those 65's and it does sound pretty good. It does tend to be a little harsh on the treble high-mids side though whcih I think is typical of the Celestions. My Splawn cab sounds alot warmer and more evenly tapered across the EQ spectrum, but with a nice tight bottom. I've now ordered another 2-12 because I like Scott's cabs so much. The cabs are constructed better and the woods used are better. I guess the speaker config is personal preference. But there is defnitely a difference enough so, that my entire live rig has changed to the Splawn stuff. I don't even use the Marshall anymore.

Thanks Craig. By the way, your sound clips are fantastic.
I would like to get a Splawn cab but probably won't have the funds anytime soon. I still have to pay the other half of the QR off and finish some guitar projects.
