I’ll try to give a short review of what I think of this pedal so far.
My QR has the drop b+ mod so I can get that chewy sag thing. With this pedal I get even more of that, if you can believe it. Using the right knob retains all of the chewiness but just well, tightens up the bottom so you won’t get flubby. IMO, flubby bottom end is pretty difficult to get with this all anyway since Scott designed it as a pretty tight amp to begin with. I dialed back the treble to about 10-10:30 just to knock off some highs. The bass and mids were at about 10 and 9:00 respectively. And it sounded just right for me. Now the actual boost knob has a ton of boost on tap. Iirc, I ultimately set it to about 10-ish and that was a lot. This pedal blows away ANY boost pedal I’ve used so far. It just gives the QR....MORE of all of its goodness. I really can’t imagine this pedal sounding bad in any amp really. It’s a great pedal...but then again everything Dave Friedman touches is killer.
I still need to tweak some amp settings etc, because I was fighting a little bit of feedback with the boost engaged....but damn did it sound good!

I am wondering if it would sound better than Boss sd-1 with my 800's?

Tough to tell since it’s not really an overdrive. But I will say that the Buxom has a ton of push to the front end. The pic of my board above is about where I had it set the other night. And you can see that the range had a lot more travel room.
How are you setting your OD now? Are you adding some gain or just using as a boost with the gain knob off?

I played around this morning with mine. I used the eq bypassed and engaged. Played with every setting of the boost and tight knob. I really like this pedal. I've found that setting the boost to about 2 o'clock was great for me with my Nitro and kept the noise down. Even at full blast it did pretty damn good. I even used it on the Nitro's clean channel full blast and was able to get a nice break up crunch. The tight control was something of an added bonus cause turning it up I was able to get tones almost like a Randall Satan(I can only really judge by Kemper profiles I used to have though). Someone could easily get "djent" type sound if you are into that kind of sound(I'm not). It does everything I got out of my beloved Maxon OD808 and more. No nasally sounding mid like the tone knob on the Maxon. I haven't tried it with my Quick Rod yet but I'm sure it will play nicely with it. I was lusting for a Fortin Grind for awhile and decided to get this after watching the demo. To me it's doing everything I wanted to get from a Grind but it seems to be way more versatile and it being cheaper was a pleasant plus.

I have found that I needed to back my gain down on the amp to about 2:00 and I have the boost set at about 10:30-ish. That’s still “on the verge” of feedback depending on how loud I have the amp at.
