Ok, I have biased this amp and others before, but just was curious the amount of variance is being seen with the newer tubes. I just replaced the EL's in the QR and range is from 31-33, so percentage is decent. Thanks! It amazing how slowly the amp's tone changes as the tubes age, these new tubes have me changing the EQ of the amp a bit from where I have been running it, seems fuller with the new tubes. I have the same brand and hotness in so the bias was almost right on. Wound up with another set of EH EL34's. What are some brands you guys have had good luck with ?

You know, last time I retubed I tried a few different brands. I had a set of Mullard RI on hand so I put them in. They sounded good but holy midrange! I tried a set of JJ 6CA7 and I like them enough I guess but didn’t love them. I ordered a set of the Chinese EL34B that Scott uses (except I got mine from tube depot) and they sounded perfect. That’s what’s is in there now. I’ll keep the other two sets as backup. There’s a thread I started somewhere around here on my adventures with my retube.

I will have to keep them in mind. Thanks. Are they the same as the ruby/tungsol el34b's or are they a different tube and not re-branded ?

Ruby are a rebranded Chinese tube. Tung-sol, I believe is a New Sensor Russian tube. But yes, rebranded Chinese tube. All of the Chinese tubes are from the same factory and retailers rebrand them.
