I'm also curious what your settings were... you said you were in third gear for the Smoke on the Water. What were your gain/volume/loop volume settings?
Just wondering.

Do you remember if you used much loop attenuation? Edit: Also, how much did you use the BB preamp? gtrjunior likes his... and your tone on Smoke was fantastic! Just wondering how much BB you had going and how much was just the Splawn?

You put the BB in the loop? I have mine out in front. I think I need to try it in the loop. Usually gain type pedals are better in front. Clearly it works great for you in the loop. hilaryhahn

My settings with it in front of the amp are: Gain: 0-1 Level: about unison Treble: 10:00 Bass: 1:00-2:00 I’ll try these settings first and see how it sounds.

Wow... interesting... every time I've put anything with any gain in the loop it's been a train wreck. I've used a clean boost in the loop with good success though. Maybe a bit of gain wouldn't hurt!

Thank for shaing your impressions. For the BB the gain is something like 12 and it works to my ears :-)

I just tried the B.B. in the loop. It sounded good, especially on the clean channel. I had the gain off. It sounded good on the od channel too. Did it sound better in the loop than out in front...:I don’t know. It sounds really good in both places. I am just about done building my home-made pedal board. When I’m ready to build the new board I will experiment more. I have many more pedals that are not currently on my board, so I will be open to anything that sounds good. My original plan was to use the B.B. to boost the od channel and my RC booster for the cleans. I’m betting that the RC will end up in the loop for sure.

Hello everybody, A new record with the Quickrod and a Xotic BB pedal in the loop effect. I change some mixing stuffs to try to catch something better. Please Tell me if you like the sound and the way to improve. :-)

Clean boosts work well in the loop. Adding overdrive in the loop of any kind is probably going to suck! I've made that mistake before... harsh and in your face (this was a Boss SD-1 in the loop way back when).
YMMV of course but for a clean boost I've used a Micro Amp and a TC Sparc Boost in the loop and they work really well, just for a clean volume boost.
Going to troubleshoot the Splawn solo boost issue on my Street Rod tonight. It's dimed but it seems like I shouldn't have to dime it, it wasn't dimed at one time and it worked a lot better. Not sure what happened, got a new footswitch in December, maybe there's something funky with it, could be the loop, maybe an adjustment I made to an effect in the loop did it. Who knows.
If I had to I could use the TC Spark boost that I have in the loop as a solo boost but I'd like to use the Splawn capability. Wish me luck tonight!
