I just received my new Super Sport from Scott! Literally been owning it less than 24 hrs! So far the dirty tones are AMAZING! Couple of questions, does anyone notice a slight volume decrease when selecting Gear 2? If so, any explanation for it or ideas to prevent it? Also, I've read where the effects loop volume can be used to attenuate the volume to bedroom levels. Can someone walk me through that process? Thanks in advance!

There should be a slight slight slight volume bump when going to Gear 2 but that is more just the extra gain kicking in. I would contact Scott on that but be patient as I've heard he is super busy. Here is how the Loop volume works: 1.) Put in some ear plugs 2.) Turn the Loop volume all the way up - this will give you the amp's sound and tone as intended 3.) Set the Gain to what works best for you. Most people are in the 11 o'clock to 2 o'clock range. 4.) Now turn the Channel Volume up just past what is comfortable. Splawns have to be cranked to sound their best. 10 o'clock + 5.) Now turn the Loop volume down to bring the volume back down to what is comfortable. Probably 8 or 9 out of 10. Obviously, this depends a bit on what you are doing (gigging vs recording vs bedroom practice) I don't have the built in loop volume but I have used a volume box (volume attenuator) in my effects loop before with patch cables so this is my experience. Others may have different advice. I removed it a long time ago because of some tone suckage. Gets a bit 'squishy'. I like my amp just wide open so for me my loop volume would probably always be on 10 - hence not needing it. Congrats on your new amp. Post a NAD or at least pics when you get time.

Spent a lot of time with the SS last night running different HB guitars through it. I'm amazed at how good the clean channel is! I want to make sure I have this right, on the foot-switch when the Mode LED is "on" is that Gear 1? If so, the ever so slight volume drop issue is solved.... thanks for all the help!

Yes, I believe that is correct. Just double checked that off the 4 button footswitch user manual found here: www.splawnguitars.com/QR_PM_SR_4b_fs.pdfIt says: "2. Mode Switch LED off indicates 2nd Gear -- Led on indicates the gear theat the front panel mode switch is set to" So if your Gear selector is on Gear 1 then yes. And yes, I would chalk that up to the lower gain - seems normal. I had to check because I don't have a 4 button switch but damn I really want one now (ha ha).

I actually have the 3 button switch. I saw the .pdf you posted which is why my hunch was "on" gear 1, off gear 2. It was counter intuitive in my head..... Thanks for the help!

The middle button "Mode" handles Gear Switching. No mods, standard SS Pedal straight from Scott. link Go down to the last pedal image and check it out.

micahvid, Your color choice looks "Great" and was a color choice that I was tossing around when I was trying to decide what color tolex and grill I was going to go with on my Splawn Super Sport 1x12 combo that "Scott" is building for me currently! After much consideration of tolex colors I came across Jelyfinger Guitars "Street Rod 1x12 Combo" covered in a knockout "Brown Gator Tolex"! I went with the Brown gator tolex and black grill cloth with the gold front panel and the Marshall style gold/black knobs! I can't wait to get this BADBOY in my mancave at home! I also decided to go with the EL-34's instead of the 6V6's! The EL-34's bump the power output up to 50 watts!I've had several 6V6 based amps and several EL-34 based amps and the extra power output is nice to have in the clean channel as well as the gain channel! You can't go wrong with the 6V6's or the EL-34's! Something that you might not be aware of that Scott shared with me and that is even if you get your SS with 6V6's you can always re-bias your SS with a set of EL-34's! Mac
