yep, it's all beat to hell, late 60s very early 70s serial number...head stock was completely broken off and reglued (duh...) the guitar plays and keeps tune better than ANY Les Paul I've owned and I have owned alot of em....stock PUs are weak and microphonic...it weighs a NEW YORK TON! very heavy guitar

is that a les paul deluxe in that pic? my first real guitar was a black les paul deluxe...one night i came home from work ( i was in high school still) and found that my dad accidentally broke the headstock (he played too...and this was before i heard of any strap locking device...hell it was 1985!)...he repaired it good as new by himself... i thought my old man was going to cry though for a second when i first saw him...

it definitely 'cuts' through a mix...i think scott gorman from thin lizzy played deluxes....it likes the QR 1/2 stack but lacks some 'sac'....
