Getting together tonight w/ some fellaz for a stand-up-grab-yer-nutz-and-crank-it jam. First one I've been to since I left my band several months ago, and the first for my QR as well. Full report in the morning.

HAHA! True. I think the other guitarist has a Line 6 Flextone halfstack and the bassist has an Ampeg SVT series with a 410 cab. The drummer has a Tama somethingorother. It will be fun to grip it 'n rip it and not feel the need to apologize afterward.

Went well - was nice to crank it up. More gain & bottom end are essential for me though. That's just the way I deliver my brand of metal. Scott says he's not gonna do the 3rd gear mod (maybe ever), so it will likely be back to the rectifier for live stuff for me.

?!?!?!? not enough gain or bottom end on a QR?!?!?!?!?!?!!? BACK TO A RECTO?!?!?!?!?!? I should have been a little more specific in my recto comment - the one I was referring to is my Voodoo modded 2ch. Triple. Trace Allen turned that amp into an amazing piece of gear. Everything that was bad about it before it was modded is actually a selling point for it now. It also has a nice 20db gain boost that Voodoo added to its already healthy dosage. I don't want to make it sound like there was a huge lack of gain with the QR, though. In fact, I think my previous comment may have been a bit harsh in that respect. It's really the bottom end that I rely on with all of the palm muting and such that I like to do, and it's gotta be big and focused. That was the main thing I missed the other night. To address the QR - I still think it's an essential piece of gear in my studio, because it simply does tones that other amps don't, and it does them extremely well. Still more experimenting to do...got a Herbert landing tomorrow that should really make things interesting...wups...should I have said that?

jesus...how many amps do you need? =D you don't have third gear on your QR do ya? bass for days =) Haha! I know...I hear all the time about what an amp addict I am. But I have sold a couple recently - the Voodoo Plexi is gone and the Mark IV is finishing up a week on Ebay today. I just tend to rotate gear through the studio to keep things fresh and find good tones for myself. I've been lucky, too, in that I haven't taken an overall loss yet - enough items have sold for more than I paid so that the ones which do take a loss don't hurt financially.
