hello. im wanting one of these splawns, but i would like to know which one is best for what i need. i dont need a clean channel or anything like that. i want the best early VH sound possible. should i get the quick rod, or the prostock? im thinking the prostock. if it has the same rythem channel that the quick rod has. or is there any amps that scott makes that are just have the rythem channel? and do these amps need to be cranked to get good tone?

if you don't want the clean channel go with the pro stock...there's even a mint condition one on ebay right now for cheap...
these things sound great at low volume...check out my clips in the clips section for examples recorded at really low volume

sweet. i have 1 more question. does scott still make a quick rod that doesnt have the independent eq? or is that the pro stock now? o ya, does scott make a quick rod or pro stock that is black with a goldish color contral plate thing. and gold piping. like exactly like a marshall just with a splawn logo. Like this one: premium1.uploadit.org/evhfan//quickrod_frt.jpgis that a quickrod or a marshall modded splawn? i love that color scheme and would like to get mine that way

i don't know if you can get one with the old chassis anymore (no independent eq)...if you want i can ask scott....the pro stock doesn't have the clean channel. scott makes one in the exact color scheme you want but i don't think he makes them anymore with piping running under the splawn logo (he might if you ask him though) right now they look like this one on ebay right now. cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10171&item=7315083443&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

Sorry to disagree! But the Pro-Stock is identical to the Pro-mod which is a more "Modern' sounding high-gain amp. Thats not what you want. The Quick Rod will get you closest to the VH brown sound. Whether you get a new one or an old one its THE tone for early VH.

looks like craig and i are both right...i checked with scott just now and the pro stock can come with EL34s or KT88s...with el34s it'll be a quick rod with no clean...with KT88s it'll be a pro-mod with no clean...
