Your right he can't,, LMAO.. I saw him 2 years ago and he was horrible. But give the guy credit for that one moment in time where he busted out some slick chops.. Jims focusing on the one Jimmy Page lick at the end.. but I'm telling you that 3 octave hammer on into the b5 blues lick is pretty darn hard. I see other cover bands do it and watch every guitar player cheese that lead. the 'lick' your talking about is right after ascending riff...it is a little tricky....the tune is 1/2 step down...the lick is a blues scale slide thingy in position 14...the lick lasts for all of about 3 seconds, slide 1/2 step on b string 'C' to 'C#' and alternate between high 'A' (E string) and 'E' (B string) and end on 'a' note 14 fret.. I can nail it...I was just playing the whole solo on my classical guitar (99%)...it's all in 'A' major blues scale...getting it smooth out of the ascending riff on the lower notes into the 14th fret blues lick is the trickiest part..he probably 'down' picks the lick cause it gets out of the pocket when you try and alternate pick the thing.. I know, you don't think I can play...that's OK, I get it all the time. BTW: there is a really good chance that it isnt that CC Deville guy playing that solo...it was WELL known in LA at that time that alot of these guys didn't even play in the studio... the labels had pros come in and track the songs to save time and money...Poison was DEFINITELY in that category, I had a friend that played drums in one session for their 2nd or third album and he said NONE of the album was the guys in the band...go figure?

So true jimbax, recording with studio players does happen a lot, friend of... played on a few tracks that the bands guitar player could not play. then you wonder on a live gig what happened? LOL.. even after being taught the parts from the studio musician. part of life.

OH Jim,, you take everything sOOO personally,, your an easy target. hee hee, I'm only messing with ya man. I know you can play, but my point was the guy does not suck ALL the time. And that is 100% CC, you can tell by the vibrato and the licks in the beginning. BUT,,, since you DID learn it go ahead and post a clip anyway so we can hear it.

I may actually have a live clip somewhere doing it with the band.. I'll have to check.... I did install Cakewalk yesterday and its working,, still haven't figured it all out yet, but I'm going to try to actually make a sound with it tonight or tomorrow hopefully. Got my monitors and US-428 controller hooked up and working too... now for the fun part,, FIGURING IT ALL OUT.

you owe me $25 for the music transcript...3 octaves? you are on crack! that's a cheesy blues lick...(I should know). As I said...the toughest part of that solo is smoothing the transition from the ascending part to that cheese lick...classic 'cheap trick' type solo. I can't record anything right now, but when I get my amp back from scott (he's checking something out for me...) I'll post the solo, if it means that much to ya....

Yea.. thats the fun part! did you find the studioware panel for the US428 for full control through the software? or are you using just the native input channels listed in the audio input columns?

Back to GEETTAR SKOOL Jimmy. now I'm confused...is it that ascending thing (3 octaves) on 5th fret you are talking about being hard? seems like a simple scalar type thing...I NEVER listen to poison so I don't know what the deal is...this seems like a rather 'routine' blues lick solo to me...the solo fits the song and thats all that should matter.
