LMAO Well at least it does sound like you have come to your senses. ;D yep, no queen CD's..but it does go to show that I have rather eclectic tastes even though I'm very much a metal head =)

I have to say that Queen and Boston are two of the best vocal bands ever Boston was my first concert. I must've been about 13 or 14 at the time. Truth is, and I hope I don't get flamed for this but, that first boston album was responsible for me wanting to pick up a guitar in the first place. Tom Scholz crafted some awesome sounding guitars on that album. And although I've never given much thought to "best vocal bands", I certainly agree that Brad Delp was among the best.

Right up there with VH1 man, without a doubt..

I dunno...I guess since Scholz isn't exactly a "guitar god" and Boston isn't one of those seminal rock bands like Black Sabbath, Led Zep, Deep Purple, AC/DC or even KISS....I just figured I might catch a little heat over that remark...that's all. But I'm glad you see it my way. And yes! I agree!!! One of the best debuts EVER!!!! Maybe you should start a thread shred. (I'm a poet and didn't know it - tehehe) Since I'm relatively new here, this may have already been done, but, you could ask people if there was one song, album, guitarist or band that was THE deciding factor for learning how to play. Whatta' ya' think? Go? Nogo?

Boston, what a good show to get started with! Mine was Ted Nugent , Kiss I was 13 and was amazed. Whoa!....the Nuge AND Kiss at 13?!?!?! So Ted comes out and makes you deaf, and then Gene scares the living HELL out of you! You must've been traumatized for several weeks after all that. LOL But seriously Hack, I'm sure that was quite an experience for you. Wish I could've seen it too.

Whatta' ya' think? Go? Nogo? no, he's not a god..but he knew how to get good tone back in the day =) and he had a great sense for harmony..can't deny that...see, to ME, they ARE a seminal rock band...even though they only put out a few albums because of legal troubles, I think they're in the upper tier! I think a thread might have been done on that already? I know for a fact there was the VH vs. randy rhodes debate as to who was better/more influential...lol.....you might've missed that one....oh, that was interesting..lmao

Tom Scholz was an MIT guy, worked at Kodak? was it?...anyway he figured by the time you mic'd up a Marshall and EQ'ed it compression and all... it was reduced to a sound he thought he could get with transistor components...the walkman was invented...I didn't like it, too mid heavy for me...I have a few scratch tracks from major studios in LA in early 80s where they FORCED me to use the dang thing (engineers liked to blend a Rockman with a Marshall)...GREAT band and a GOOD guitar player...we could never play them though because of the awesome vocals...

GREAT riffing! and that bassplayer..a total animal..
