thanks guys! it's really cool to hear everyone's different opinions on what they prefer. just goes to show that there's lots of room for tone personalization and that these amps/speakers are all top notch tone makers =)

Thanks for the clips windsen!! Well after hearing all of them about 100 times it's still hard to make a descision cause they all sound good. Things I noticed: All of the splawn speakers have more bottom end than the standard eminence. The Big Blocks has a lot of bass but seem to lack definition and body. I think I liked it the least. The SB65 is very nice, seem to be a little on the bright side though. The SB25 have great punch and fullness and like others have said they are natural and don't color the sound. The Gov has the most upper mids, which can be too much with the splawn's upper mids voicing but I guess coupled with another speaker it works.

Someone should start a poll to see which combination of speakers the people on this board like best. I think it would be interesting! Please, somebody do that soon.
As a pre-requisite, you should have to listen to each clip at least 15 times...

Hey Windsen, i took those clips, put them into Soundforge, copied and pasted so you could have a stereo track of just ONE type of speaker. It seems to give a better idea of what it would sound like with a cab with one kind of speaker.

Windsen, you truly are a huge asset to this board and I think to Splawn amps as well. This is an excellent example of reference for the majority of Scotts products. I salute you sir and for me its the SB25s and the Govs, great stuff!
If this isn't a sticky yet, could it be made so please?

What I suggest for anybody who has sequencing software is to import all of Windsen's clips for a given amp into the sequencer as split-MONO tracks. Then you can mix and match x-patterns all day long. Winden's clips allow for the creation of many additional combinations. For example, the BB/Gov is very interesting. Also, most sequencers allow for quick pan reversal, which I strongly recommend before making a final decision on speakers because there are a number of factors that can play tricks on the ears (including the ears themselves). Some of you will find that by simply reversing pan, all of a sudden things sound different.

If you have the means to make different combinations and import them back to the computer to make some clips that would be awesome even though I am pretty overwhelmed with the choices thus far.

This is fantastic. As someone with little to no experience with speaker cabinets this direct comparison is invaluable. I simply guessed (with Josh's recommendation) when i ordered my 4x12 and really still have no sense of what the tonal difference might be between speakers... that is until now. Can thank you enough windsen.
Think there may be some Splawn Small Block - 25's in my future
