OK... got to band practice last night, in this band I have to break down my gear after practice and move it out of the way into a corner as it's basically the living room of the drummer's house. So, all set up to jam last night... no clean channel. WTF?!?!??!? Quick check shows: - Footswitch light on, thinks it's on the clean channel - Looked at tubes, glowing nicely. - OD channel, fine. - Pulled out the footswitch cable a bit and I got OD sounds... thinking something went awry with the foot switch or the jacks. Band was getting antsy, so just decided I'd go with OD only for the evening and back off on guitar volume and gain for more clean sounds (we don't do that much clean stuff) Played a few songs, tried again, no joy. Getting very bummed that I'll have to have it serviced. Then... I noticed... Clean channel volume was all the way down! <Insert facepalm here> Felt like a complete moron! I never adjust the clean volume though, and... I guess some of the drummer's young grandchildren were there and may have "adjusted" my amp settings for me! (Or I jostled it when moving it to the corner). Anyway, thought it was funny, still feel like an idiot but relieved the amp is in good working order. Flame away!!!

Been there bro! I remember years ago unknowingly using an unshielded cable to connect the speakers to the amp. There was so much noise and interference! I couldn't figure out what I did wrong for 2 rehearsal sessions!! DOH!!!

Lol! Bummer! Yeah sometimes it's the simplest things that can trip you up. But, in both cases it was something easily fixable.
My old Peavey Ultra 120 was crapping out for real and I had to have it serviced, loads of cold solder joints and a bad tube. Yikes! Think I got stung by that a bit, now any amp issue is a disaster. I gotta have faith in my Splawn! Top notch stuff.
